Caring for Jadau jewellery after the wedding

Jadau is not set with prongs. The stones are held by soft gold foil, which is why it must never be cleaned the way a solitaire ring is cleaned.

Keep it dry. Water seeps behind the foil and lifts stones over time. Remove jewellery before washing, swimming or any spa treatment, and never use an ultrasonic cleaner.

Keep it away from perfume, hairspray and cosmetics. These dull the meena enamel and stain pearls permanently. Jewellery goes on last, after hair and make-up.

Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or its own box compartment. Kundan pieces scratch each other, and pearl strings stretch if stored under weight.

Wipe with a dry, soft cloth after wear — nothing else. Bring the piece back to us once every couple of years for professional cleaning, re-stringing and a check of the settings. That is free for pieces we have made.
